About Us
My sister and I were chatting on line about our latest quilting projects. I was trying to describe how I was going to change the pattern to something I liked better and asked her opinion. She suggested that I design my own pattern - WE SHOULD DESIGN QUILT PATTERNS! Oh my gosh! Why didn’t we think of this before. But could we really do it? As it turned out, yes we could. We convinced my other sister and sister-in-law to join in (which didn’t take much convincing) and before we knew it, the four of us were in business. We have some fun meetings (out to dinner with no kids allowed) and some hard days trying to meet deadlines. There are times when we have to sew and re-sew to check and recheck the accuracy of patterns. But we are loving it and having fun!
Introducing the partners . . . . . . .
Diane Calkin – mother, engineer, mathematician – I love civil war reproduction fabrics and more traditional quilts and quilt blocks. My daughter, Kate, has graduated from college and has a job, so I have the most free time. Design and color combinations fascinate me, I like to pick a color scheme and then add one “odd” fabric to make the whole thing come together.
Kim Delowery – mother, expert sewer, keeps the faith – I like computer programs and the way they fit with quilt designs. I have two children and my elderly aunt to keep me on my toes. Fortunately, they are flexible about eating meals at the table, since it is frequently covered with sewing projects.
Jennifer Waldmann – wife, mother, chief editor – I am inspired by 1930 fabrics and I particularly enjoy hand sewing. My four boys keep me busy but, little by little, I accomplish some of our goals and work on new ideas. I always find time to edit new patterns.
Mary Jo Delowery – mother, accounting & marketing expert – I know what I like and
my partners tell me I have a good eye for current trends. I am the least experienced sewer in the group, therefore I am good at testing patterns for beginners (our specialty). I have two children and one is a teenager!
As you can see, we are a diverse group, which actually makes for very good business partners. Our strengths and weaknesses fit together like a very nice patchwork quilt!
